[SOLVED] cannot find closed application running in system tray

When I close a running application, kopete, on the desktop, it says kopete will keep running on the system tray. But I cannot see where on the desktop is kopete still running in the system tray. Isn´t the system tray at the corner where the computer time and date is. But I cannot see kopete running there as an icon.

    Are you running Ubuntu 8.10?

Try clicking on the power button in the panel and see if it's in the list that drops down.

Do you have other icons showing, like the Network Manager? If not, you might not have the Notification Area on your panel (which is where such icons get displayed).

Right-click on the panel, select Add to Panel, and add in the Notification Area applet.
