I never really thought about this before, but I'm thinking it will make sense to install Xubuntu on my laptop, Sony Vaio NR160E, when I next upgrade.

I'm currently running Ubuntu and noticed how my CPU temp is running about 10°C cooler using Epiphany instead of Firefox/Opera. That sounds like an optimal solution to get the most out of my laptop if and when I need to resort to the battery instead of AC.

Has anyone tested Xubuntu vs. Ubuntu temps? Is it just logical that Xubuntu would be more energy efficient? Is it also fair to say that it would be better to run the 32-bit version over the 64-bit version to get the most out of a full charge?
