Getting Bison Webcam to work on Hardy

I have a MSI Professional laptop with a built-in Bison 1.3Mpix webcam. I have been to numerous forum pages on getting it to work and I still cannot get cheese (or any other video program) to recognize that I even have one installed.

So, noob to Ubuntu, running Hardy 8.04. Is there a step list to ensure what I can do to get this running? So far, nothing seems to help.

Check out those pages as a place to get started. Try the second one first as it is a forum post and will give you an idea of what it will entail and if it is within your current ability.

Try installing guvcview from the Ubuntu software center. Once installed, make sure your webcam is turned on. Cheers.......

I suspect the issue is moot now after almost 5 years.
