    Given that those particular cards are pretty uncommon, chances are that you won't yet have WMV support

    Driver 180.06 has a lot of problems playing anything but the samples, particularly mkv files. I highly recommend moving to 180.08 (ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/180.08/) which seems to have fixed some of the issues
    1) What does VC-1 have to do with .mkv & wmv3? I'm not using the VC-1 codec.
    2) I'm on 180.08 right now and i still can't play 720p .mkv

    1) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought wmv3 used VC-1? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VC-1#WMV3

    2) Well it is still beta after all. 180.08 certainly improved things for me, although its far from perfect.
