It gets a Meh rating from me.

What ticks me off is the inability update the collection periodically short of rescanning the entire collection from top to bottom...another ticker-offer is that I never liked how badly Banshee's metadata service grabber worked. Most of my CD's I ripped on the brief time I used Banshee, I ripped through other softwares-the easily grabbed metadata-they also allowed controllable bitrate. The browser I do like, it does a better job than Amarok does for my collection.

Banshee is coming along, but I'll take Amarok 1.4.whatever any day over Banshee.

I really wish they'd used mplayer instead of gstreamer, but that a huge pipe dream, isn't it?

I agree that when I upgraded from Ubuntu Hardy Heron to
Intrepid Banshee is just has organized my music correctly
to the point that I had to google it.
This is how it is organized
(and yes I tried messing with it in preferences)
If I click on Album, Artist, Track, then
it lists everything by track number first.
If I click on Title for some reason then it will list things
more to my liking, instead now the track numbers are in the wrong order:
For instance here is one of the album's order of tracks:
    6, 8, 2, 3, 11, 9, 4, 5, 1, 7, 10.
If I click title again it stayes the same.
If I for instance click album, and then album again
    it doesn't change anything,
it stays the same where all the tracks are listed by numbers first.
You might ask what do I mean by track number first?
    Well just like this:
    1
    1
    1
    1
    1
    1

and so on, I hope you get my point.
So although I love Banshee and wish Ubuntu had it
on the apps list already installed and ready.
I am cool with that because I know that by going to(in Ubuntu)
system, then preferences, then Main Menu
I can make things like sound juicer and such not appear anymore on the menus.(I just wanted to mention this to anyone who didn't know that already)
Anyways, I am going to try un-installing Banshee,
then re-installing Banshee in hope that I can import
my music in the hopes that this will get sorted properly.

Re: Anyone else think the new banshee sucks?

    OK,
    this solved my problem:
    Open Banshee,
and go to edit select all and click on it,
then right click on your music files
and carefully select remove from library
(do not choose delete from library),
then right click on the far left and choose import media,
then navagate to where you have your music which
most people put in the music folder and click the open button
on the right bottom side of this window.
Now when you go to Banshee it should work properly.

I think it's a ****** player. you can't browse your files with an arborescence, the management of playlists is awful as is the ergonomy of the interface. and of course the cpu usage when launching a search query or scanning the library always means funtime. in short it's a terrible software
a pity foobar is only available on windows
