I recently was in the market for a USB CDMA connection through verizon that would work in linux.
ONE THING TO NOTE: Before using this card in Linux I think it is required that you run the Verizon software that came with it and connect to the net on a windows machine for the first time. Once it connects once it will work in linux NP.
The card I found that works OUT OF BOX (8.10 that is,7.10 needs to install gnome-ppp)
The Verizon USB727 Card.
I have upgraded to the 8.10 RC and there is a cool feature in the network manager applet. The ability to connect to a mobile broad band connection through the applet.
1. Right click on the network manager applet on the top right portion of the screen and click edit networks.
2. Click the mobile broadband connection and click add.
3. Press forward. Then select T-MOBILE Internet.
4. Name is something like "Verizon GPRS" err whatever
5. Apply.
6. Click edit on the newly created connection.
7. Change the default number to #777 (THIS IS FOR VERIZON)
8. Delete the APN string.
9. Fill in the username: with your cards phone number
10. Fill in your password with vzw
Press OK
To Connect:
Click on the top right network applet and select "Auto Mobile Broadband Connection (CDMA)
Browse and enjoy.

FOR 7.10 Users

For those of you who are not running the RC 8.10 you can still connect using this card by.
sudo apt-get install gnome-ppp
run gksudo gnome-ppp
click detect on the modem
change speed to 460800
on the options tab select ONLY the following:
Auto Reconnect
Check Default Route
Ignore Terminal Strings
For the username and password / phone number its the same as above.
