    No wired connection after upgrade

I just upgraded to Ibex Intrepid and my wired connection isn't working anymore.

when I put it in manually in /etc/network/interfaces, it gives me an error when I restart /etc/init.d/networking (I can't remember which error, I'm on Windows now)

When I try to do it with ifconfig
    Code:
    sudo ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.2
    OR
    sudo ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0
it gives me the following error:
    Code:
    SIOCSIFADDR: No buffer space available
I am using a Dell XPS 1710 laptop with a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller

    Can anyone please help

i am having the same problem on my router. the wireless connection works ok, but when i plug in the wire the network manager just goes stupid. the bug was filed here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...er/+bug/277063 as 'fixed' prior to 8.10 official release, however i am having this problem after just upgrading today.

    Mine is a bit different.

I just can't set an IP address, not even manually. I put my backup back now and using good ol' hardy. I'm waiting for the cd to be delivered to attempt a clean install.

    Same problem.

Internet upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10 seemed to run smoothly.

On reboot into 8.10 now have NO wired ethernet connection.

My router supports dhcp, but 8.10 fails to get an address from it.

Using the skge network card driver (used to work flawlessly
    with 8.04).

Re: No wired connection after upgrade

    Hi Hofa

    The command line command:
    sudo ifconfig eth0 10.0.0.5
    also produces the result
    No buffer space available
    .

Using the graphical Network Connections setup, if I choose
under IPv4 settings "manual" instead of Automatic DHCP and
enter the IP that the DHCP server would have assigned, then
the notification is "wired network connection established" - but
I still can't ping the router.

My guess is that lots of other people are seeing the same problem.

I reported this bug on it's own: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/291449

I think I've got the same problem, with the "SIOCSIFADDR: No buffer space available" message. I've made a thread here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=964757
"By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest."
