    Need Advice for new Hardware

Hi Everyone , I currently have the following configuration..

    ASUS M2N4-SLi Motherboard
    nVidia Geforce 7300 GT w/ 512 MB DDR2
    3 GB DDR2 Physical RAM
    250 X 2 SATA HDD
    AMD Athlon X2 3800+

I was wanting to upgrade my system to an AMD Phenom processor and buy a new graphic card (possibly the Geforce 9 series)..

I needed some help if my motherboard and Hard disks would be supported or would i have to buy everything new .. And plus its compatiblity with Ubuntu..

    Thanks!

Btw , If there are any better options than Phenom and Geforce 9 , please let me know!

    Hello,

All of the hardware that you have listed works fine with Ubuntu. The GeForce drivers that nVidia offers for Linux are awesome. Some people don't use them though because they are proprietary. This all boils down to personal preference! You shouldn't have any problems though!

After some googling around, it seems that you can't run a Phenom Processor on the ASUS M2N4-SLi Motherboard. The socket is compatible though, so maybe a BIOS firmware upgrade would solve that. Sounds like a lot of work though. The motherboard does indeed seem to support the GeForce 9 card.
