hey all, thanks for the view.
basically my mouse, a ps/2 logitech bluetooth mouse, halts after x amount of time. keyboard is fine, system responds fine, mouse just halts. this started suddenly, unfortunately I can't remember what specifically I was doing, but I DO remember installing GPM around the time. anyway, the internet is littered with this exact problem, and people fix it with noapic options or what-have-you, but this problem is different:
1. the problem started suddenly, not after an upgrade or new install
2. a complete ubuntu upgrade (to hardy) including a format of my / partition did not fix the problem
3. i've tried 2 other mice, (one ps/2 and one USB) and they both have the same problem... I've tried multiple USB slots, and tried the noapic and irqpoll options. I have 2 mice plugged in (a ps/2 and the USB), when the first freezes, I switch to the second, which also eventually freezes
4. it's not a completely random time.... using some graphics intesive programs make it freeze much, much faster... starcraft, for example, is a guaranteed mouse freeze between 2 and 5 minutes or so... but Warsow (think quake3) usually takes much longer to freeze... Flash and wine seem to speed up the freeze, but they aren't requirements of one
anyway, I'm at a complete loss here.. thanks for the help
