3D fails w/ ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (latest fglrx + Xubuntu 8.10)
Hi. Ihave had seriosly problems when installing this card. At first, ATI's web driver failed to install by itself (look for " ATI restricted drivers + reboot = black screen (8.04)" thread). I where finally succesfull at installing it as Neo said.). I had a problem with that driver. When launching 3Dgames or compiz, everything goes well for a while , then system freezes and is needed a hard reboot. I contacted ATI's Support and after check that all was properly installed, they suggested me to go to 8.10 and try phoronix driver (the new latest fglrx driver from repositories) and under Intrepid Ibex, as this distro comes with the latest X and stuff.
After installing that drivers, i'm still having the same issue. In desktop everything is great, and stable. but launching 3D games or Compiz hangs the computer. I will atach some info now:

Please Help. Im dessesperate at this point. Of course card inst broken (i bought it last week and it works perfectly in XP). In ATI support cannot help me since they do not provide direct help to linux users...theyre "working in my issue" but as i am only 1 person i think they dont effort at all.. may more people have simmilar issues? Complain at ATI! Try these telephone numbers, as submitting tickets only generates absurd replys (as "donwload latest driver" or "ask in linux forums" [im very uppsetted with ATI. Never more ill be an ATI customer])
