    Re: HOW TO surf anonymous

SwitchProxy doesn't work on firefox 1.5, as is noticed in the page for download. Also I gave it a try. It doesn't work.
So, does anyone know a work around of this? Maybe, some other extension.
    Thanks

I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.1 and got the extension here:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/125/

    It worked, also.

    Re: HOW TO surf anonymous

Thanks for the How To. Got some question though:
    1. Is it realy running? I get the different IP-address, but trying to run tor:
    Code:
    $ tor
Jun 23 01:42:33.981 [notice] Tor v0.1.0.16. This is experimental software. Do not rely on it for strong anonymity.
Jun 23 01:42:33.982 [notice] options_validate(): Your ContactInfo config option is not set. Please consider setting it, so we can contact you if your server is misconfigured or something else goes wrong.
Jun 23 01:42:33.983 [warn] resolve_my_address(): Address 'totoro' resolves to private IP '127.0.0.1'. Tor servers that use the default DirServers must have public IP addresses.
Jun 23 01:42:33.983 [err] tor_init(): Reading config failed--see warnings above. For usage, try -h.
whats that about? Ant if I get that error, is it realy working as it should?

    2. This is about torify, I get the error above. But no errors when I run: $torify app-name . Does this mean its running correctly or not? Can I check it in some way?

You can do it without TOR, and this is very secure too.

What if you are behind a router? Will not your traffic still noted as moving through your router (the ip it has**from your isp** as well as its MAC address)?

    Re: HOW TO surf anonymous

I installed this but I noticed loads of random connections being made when my machine was idle?

I have conky setup to display active(ESTABLISHED) connections using netstat and every now and then I get about 5 different connecetions

So I removed them from startup and made some scripts to start and stop both tor and privoxy, so it can be used as and when I need it.

Anyone know why there were random connections? very strange, not sure if it's worth worrying about or not tho. Better to be safe than sorry tho
