I am new to the whole Ubuntu.... I am trying to figure everything out by trial and error, I am only coming up with one thing that I cant seem to figure out. I used to be able to attach a monitor to my laptop to run my windows, but I cant figure out how to make ubuntu see my monitor.. Any Help
What kind of laptop / graphics card do you have? Have you tried Administration -> Screen resolution in the system menu.
I have tried that but it didnt see anything....I am running the on board card that came with my toshiba
What about the FN + F5 key to switch the display option on the motherboard. If that doesn't work then there is a utility to handle external VGA ports here: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Xorg_RandR_1.2 This is a user guide.
Yeah, did you try the funtion key + (F5?) what ever your laptop button to switch to external monitor?
