    Re: Still no wireless

    You might try this link:
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=885173

lwfinger is going to need some information from you that is listed in the first post. However the there is a character missing in his command so you will need to provide the following information:
    Code:
    SPROM=$(find /sys/devices -name ssb_sprom)
    sudo cat $SPROM > sprom.dat
lwfinger has /sys/device where it should be /sys/devices.

Hopefully that will fix the problem.

    Re: Still no wireless

ok so i tried all the suggestions from lwfinger and he now suggests that I have to configure the modem manually. I don't really know what this means and I still don't detect any wireless networks automatically

iwlist scan comes up with this

    lo Interface doesn't support scanning.

    eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning.

    wmaster0 Interface doesn't support scanning.

    wlan0 No scan results

and sudo ifconfig comes up with

    eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:03:25:10:80:44
    UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1

    Re: Still no wireless

If you have encyrption on your router right now, you will want to turn it off just to test. You can connect manually by doing the following:
    Code:
    sudo dhclient -r
    sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid router-name
    sudo dhclient wlan0
If it assigns an ip address, then you are connected. If it goes back to sleep, then there are still some connection problems.

    Re: Still no wireless

This is a long shot but it worked for me!

Try disabling your onboard modem in the BIOS.
