    Gazelle Value Memory Upgrade

    Hello,

I've had my Gazelle Value since March 2007 and I think it's about time for a memory upgrade And what a nice experience I've so far.

My order shows the currently installed memory as *Memory : 1 GB DDR2 667 MHz. I know that there is one more slot available as I've looked in my laptop.

My question is how much more memory can I add?

    Thanks,

    Jimmy

Which Gazelle Value version do you have? Go to System > Administration > System76 Driver. It will tell you.

Also, are you running 32-bit or 64-bit Ubuntu?

    Hi Tom,

Guess I forgot to mention those important things:

    gavz4
    32-bit

    Thanks,

The specs say it only takes a maximum of 2GB. But hang tight. I'm looking to see if there is a BIOS upgrade that will bump it up to 4GB.

    Thomas,

I do need to order more memory. The plan right now is to get an additional 1GB RAM. What kind of RAM would you recommend for my laptop?

If I can go to 4GB RAM in my laptop with a frimware upgrade I would do that too.

You can put 2GB max in it. I could not find a BIOS upgrade for your particular model to bring it up to 4GB.

    Thomas,

    Thank you for looking.

I don't have my laptop with me at the moment and I want to place an order this afternoon for memory. Could you tell me what model of memory I need to order for my laptop? I know it's 1 GB DDR2 667 MHz but what's the speed (or pc number). It's been a while since I had to order hardware and I want to make sure what I'm ordering will be compatible with I easily replace with what was shipped with my laptop.

    I have gavz4 32-bit.

If you can get Kingston KVR667D2S5/1G, that would be optimum.

    At any rate, it's PC2-5300.
