[SOLVED] Error opening the cache

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'Eroblem parsing dependency Depends, E:Error occurred while processing btnx (NewVersion1), Eroblem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/repoubuntusoftware.info_dists_harty_all_binary-i386_Packages, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

and now i can't update any help appreciated.

first major ubuntu problem i didn't cause directly..........

have you noticed it refers to dists_harty_all should this not be dists_hardy_all????

The first place I looked after my last post and sure enough I found the "harty" typo on two lines (the two that are now commented out)

Commented out the lines and completed and updated fine.

The strange thing is that the sources haven't changed for months and I've never had any problems up unto tonight along with our friend at the top of the thread. The sources.list file is a local file that can't be altered from outside root so it can't have been altered?!? can it?

Any way - all is working again now so I suppose I should just forget about it. This machine is a bit messy with experimental this and that, maybe I should do a nice clean install [ahh fresh sheets]

A unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
