    How to install Tar file

    HI all. I downloaded a tar file from ralink for my usb wifi adapter and extracted folder "Module" which has a lot of files, can anyone tell me in "dummies steps" what to do next. I have spent hours trying to install it.

    usually it comes with instructions , in case its a driver , is there a README file or any documentation?

    ok read the readme and started this is what I got
    bash: /home/george/Documents/2008_0506_RT73_Linux_STA_Drv1.1.0.1/Module/Makefile.6: Permission denied

    run "sudo" before the command

    Use a sudo at the start of the command to enable admin privs, which should then allow it to run.

    ok thanks to all here is what i get

    $ sudo cp Documents/2008_0506_RT73_Linux_STA_Drv1.1.0.1/Module/Makefile.6 ./Makefile

    try :
    sudo apt-get install build-essential
    and then try again...
