Installing Ubuntu 8.04 on PowerMac G4 : Installation CD-Rom cannot be mounted.

    Hello there

I am attempting to install Hardy Heron on a Powermac [not powerbook] G4. I have the alternate install disk running. I get to a point where I get this marvelous error:

Your installation CR-ROM couldn't be mounted. This probably means that the CD-ROM is not in the Drive. If so insert it and try again.
Try again to mount CD-ROM YES NO

Any idea on how to fix this?

I've tried the ide=nodma ... cannot do so because of the powerpc boot loader.

    Thanks.

If I attempt to install with 7.10, I get a black screen.

    Anyone?

    Thanks.

Try again with Hardy burning the CD at very slow speed.
If you get black screen, at the very beginning before loading the kernel, type 'video=ofonly'

Having the same kinsa issues here with a G4/400. When I try to install from the 8.04 disk I get an out of range error with video. So I'll get the alt 7.10 iso and let you know what happens..
Not really helping I know, but hopefully I can glean some answers.
