    screen resolution problem

    Hi,

I have just installed 8.04 on a new build PC and am unable to adjust the screen resolution? At present it is set to 800x600 and the only option I have is to make it 640x840? I have fitted my old PC's hdd into this new one which also has 8.04 on and that allowed me to fix the resolution?

    Any suggestions?
I have a xfx geforce 9400 gt 512mb pci-e 2.0 graphics card fitted and i am fairly new to linux

my reccomendation (not that im qualified or anything) is to install all available updates, and enable the 3rd party drivers for your nvidia card.

    that might help.

check this, it is the only proper way to set up a nvidia card. other methods work but not completely, they are work-arounds to get the card doing something. the link here will undo failed attempts and set the card right.
