    password manager like ai roboform

looking for a Password Manager and Web Form Filler that completely automates password entering and form filling like ai roboform but for linux.

i have seen a few password managers but they are not web form fillers
i seem to remember one that i used before but can not remember its name.

most i have seen have not seen any new development in a long long time, i would prefer something that is still being developing to match new tech.

    thanks

I've never used roboform, but opera can do username/password and a bunch of other commonly entered stuff. I like it very much.

    100 buckets of bits,
Take one down, short it to ground,
FF buckets of bits on the bus.

Firefox, too, comes with a password manager, you should see it every time you successfully login to a website.

i have seen and used both of those in the past
but i would like something that is separate from the browser.
so that i dont have to re type my passwords if i switch browsers
( it would be really cool if there was one that worked for the 3 major os's)

plus i would like to backup the passwords
and i dont think either opera or firefox has that option that i know of..
( and the ability for a text file export or printing etc)

Unfortunately, I'm still looking for an application that fully integrates with the browser password manager. The best I could find is KeePassX (I guess is in the repos). It isn't fully integrated, but there is a button you can click and it will automatically fill login forms on web sites. You can encrypt (with master pass/key or both) and backup the password databases.

You can export Firefox passwords with Password Exporter. Secure Password Generator can create the passwords for you and Secure Login expand the functionality of Firefox password manager to make it more like Opera's wand feature.

Another alternative would be using myVidoop service, which also provides openID integration.

You can run Roboform on Firefox in Linux, it's kind of gltichy, and not completely stable though, it crashes once in a while.

    Follow the instructions here...

try lastpass.com ! plugins for Linux and windows, it does the job great ! - imports from Roboform, FREE, and BETTER, no arrogance towards Linux.

    I switched completely.

    sorry.
the last thing i want is a password manager that stores ANYTHING on the internet..

why on earth would that EVER be necessary ?

encrypted or not.. i just cant go there..

Re: password manager like ai roboform

Thanks Andre-D for this recommendation of lastpass

    Works well so far

Of course I am not going to put my credit card number and SS# and so forth into ANY form filler program.

But this is good for filling in my name, address and so forth and loging in to sites like Ubuntuforums and Amazon and Gmail

Of course im not going to have it memorize the login of my credit card website or my checking or loging into my bank website and so on.

So the program is good for low security convenience.

BTW: If you have your credit card numbers stored at sites like Buy.Com and Amazon please remove them AT ONCE! That is a very bad idea.
