    Grub: L 99 99 99 ...

I get this when I try to boot my freshly-installed Ubuntu Server 8.04 install. I've tried reinstalling, reformatting, repartitioning, etc. to no avail. Any suggestions?

That's a little bit odd, because the L would indicate Lilo rather than Grub...

Apparently there's a problem with your disk. After a little bit of research, I found this post. The answer for that person was to do a low-level format of the disk and then reinstall.

However, before I did that, I'd try reinstalling Grub, and if that didn't work, I'd try installing Lilo (another bootloader used by some other Linux distributions).
