After much forum surfing trying to find the answer, it evades me.

I installed ubuntu on this laptop and the nvidia drivers are needed. it is a gaming laptop and has like a 9800 gx2 i think, i don't know for sure.

Anyway, i installed the drivers automatically and restarted like it said, and i go to system->administration->hardware drivers and it lists the nvidia driver there, checked, and then it says "not in use".

Please help me get these drivers working!
