Is it possible to get to computers talking though are router?

I would like to be able to get two computers talking through a router/wireless modem. Can this be done? One is connected with a network cable and the other wireless, using the printer would be an advantage to.

    Thanks in advance.

ya! it's possible to share but I don't understand what you mean by "talking". Do you mean ping? or for gaming?

If what you mean by 'talking' is 'connection', Yes. Your router can act as a switch at the same time even if you have to 2 different network addresses for both wired and wireless. You can also access network resources such as printing, file sharing, or simply just to connect computers for entertainment purposes.
Steady movement is more important than speed, much of the time. So long as there is a regular progression of Stimuli to get your mental hooks into, there is room for lateral movement. Once this begins, its rate is a matter of discretion.

So how do I go about this? All I want to do is share the printer and access each others hard disk for backup ect.

Why can't life have a sudo apt-get install -f command?
Install VMWare Server 2 on a text-only system
Need help getting your printer working in Linux?

Ok, I had an aborted attempt at setting up ubuntu on the other machine, looks like it will be xubuntu on one and ubuntu on the other.

The printer will be connected to the ubuntu machine.
