    Hey Mike,

Sorry your campaign wasn't more successful, but congratulations on the money you did raise and I admire how you perservered and continually improved the campaign as it went on; and how you plan to go for it again after Kickstarter opens up.

A guy suggested some guides about creating Kickstarter campaigns that I thought might help you:

    http://www.altdevblogaday.com/2012/0...-need-to-know/

    http://www.thekickbackmachine.com/

Kickstarter is going to be tough, if you don't hit the target you don't get anything. I'd really suggest you create the campaign text, reward tiers and video and then get feedback on them before you start the campaign. Your campaign page should be as good as it can be before the campaign starts, and I and I'm sure many other here would be happy to give you feedback and advice.

Regards, and best of luck with your work and future campaign,
    Sofox

Another article giving advice on Kickstarter: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/featur...die.php?page=1

Done by someone who had a failed Kickstarter, then a successful one of the same game. Had troubles with the video too.

Re: La Vida- The Sims For Linux

He raised $270, and received $151 dollars.

This means he actually received 55% of the total raised.

9.26% of this was a fixed cost ($25 wire transfer fee)

He could have gained another $61 (22.6%) from the Paypal funds, but for some reason he doesn't seem to have got them. From what he typed, the reason for not getting it seems to be that he didn't reach the goal.

If he hadn't the wire transfer fee or and had received the Paypal funds, he would have gotten $237, which would have been 87.78% of total raised funds.

So essentially, one of the major reasons he didn't get a high percentage was because the total amount was so low it got eaten up by a fixed cost, and the other reason seems to be that he didn't reach his target.

The rest of the fees seem to be standard charages that always crop up on stuff like this. Kickstarter also has it's own charges and a Paypal fee.

    Hi All

Just thought I would just drop you a update.

I've been waiting for Kickstarter to open up to UK at the ned of september but that hasn't happened

I'll keep and eye on things and when Kickstarter sort their act out I'll start things rolling.

In the meantime I did a presentation at my local Python group that you can download the code and presentations for at https://github.com/MikeHibbert/Osmos-Clone

Its a little demo of how to make a game like Osmos!

We all enjoyed looking at Python as a games development platform so maybe you can too!

    Hi All

Well Kickstarter has finally opened up to the UK so I'm now able to publish the campaign!

First off, before I do so I'd like to ask for your help in creating some rewards. Any help or suggestions are welcome so please post your ideas and we can all share in creating the campaign!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi All

I've been busy creating some content for my new kickstarter campaign which I'm hoping to launch in the next couple of months so I thought I would share some artwork with you which I paid a designer to do for me so I can show a more professional concept to contributors.

Any here is the new logo for the game, I'm currently having some concept art created for the various activities/roles that the user can explore when the game is done.

When these are done I'm going to enlist a professional video guy who's agreed to do a nice promo video for the game for a super cheap price.

Just thought I'd let you know were all you previous contributions are being invested, hopefully this will help the project get funding and a healthy start to development in 2013.

    Mr. Hibbert,

I honestly wish I could aid you, but I have no prior experience.

However, I am fully supporting this whole idea. I myself had an idea for a sims game, I just haven't got around to making it.

    Keep up the good work,

    MrLinux2011
