    Apple Didn't Invent iPod

Check out this dude, he invented the iPod/mp3 player years ago but couldn't afford to renew the patent. Man, he gotta to be lamenting "the one that got away" 24/7 - and man it was a pretty big fish. Hope Apple give him some money just to be nice, it's not like they can't afford it.

I guess he is lucky money doesn't make you happy...right...

That is what's retarded about patent "fees". At least make them reasonable. Researching patents or lawyer fees shouldn't be this much. Look at the U.S. patent website sometime. What a ball of confusion that is. We all occasionally come up with new ideas, but who can afford to act on them? Most inventors have to sell patents because they can't afford to keep them. And the someone with deep pockets like MS patents page up/down arrow key(of which they didn't invent). Incredible.

Yep, it is a joke. I costs about $10,000 for the most simple of patents, such as a new garden fork or some other innocuous thing. And then, if you invent something that is actually complex and interesting, it easily costs over $30,000.

The patent system is entirely geared to serve big business.
