Question Re: 8800GT doesn't work with Hardy

    I have this card: GeForce® 8800 GT Alpha Dog 512MB DDR3 XXX (PV-T88P-YDD4)
    It works excellent.

If i remember good i got the driver when i enabled the extra effects in System->Preferences->Appearance->Visual Effects tab.

I attach my xorg.conf for reference, but it could be that you have some hardware problem.

    # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Re: [SOLVED] 8800GT doesn't work with Hardy

Problem solved! It turns out, the issue was actually with my motherboard (which has onboard graphics). As a last-ditch effort, I finally discovered that the onboard graphics in my motherboard were enabled. I disabled them, and lo and behold, problem solved! Thanks all for your help, though.
