    getting data off old drives

    Hi,
I have a few old drives that I don't want to put in my new machine, but I want to copy the data...

Is there a sata/usb adapter or something similar I can use for this?

    There are-

I wouldnt bother though, if you have a desktop you can just plug the SATA drive in and leave it sitting on the desk, boot up, copy the files over, shutdown and then remove the drive. Faster (because USB 2.0 isnt as fast as SATA) and cheaper.

that probably makes sense...although opening up the case on my machine always seems like such a psychological barrier..

Understandable really, a lot of people have problems with taking the case of.

If its really to much, just get a SATA-> USB converter.
