    Unhappy Pidgin not installing!

I'm sorry if I happen to be posting in the wrong section (or maybe even forum ), but I have some issues installing my favorite I.M. client in Windows Vista.

I start the installer and get some error about the GTK libraries not installing correctly. Any assistance would be much appreciated as I love to use Pidgin due to it's support for many I.M. platforms.

EDIT: Sorry, I do realize this is the Ubuntu forum, but I might as well give it a go.

    Deep Blue.

If you don't have GTK installed pidgin won't work.Try reninstalling and makeing sure it installes GTK.

By default, Pidgin installs GTK for you. Are you suggesting I install GTK separately?

No. Maybe justtry uninstallingit andthen installing it again. It should install it by default. I am not suggesting install GTK sepratly.

Okay, but pidgin does not install period; nor GTK. So I can't uninstall it.

Try turning off your virus software and spy blockers if you have them running

    That might do it.

Also one other thing, I think I've read something about how Vista is now doing something with permission.

I would not install from the /programs folder just put it on the desktop and install it, just in case you may have installed from some other folder etc.
Not sure if that will help but worth a try.

Naw, I always install .exes from my Desktop, but I do know Vista has it's quirks.
