Best player?

What would YOU say is the best multimedia player for ubuntu? (Im tired of "Movie player" its just not working for me)

I have VLC, but what im looking for is more like a windows media player like "Player" (or like itunes.. but I dont want itunes.. it be dumb)

I'd say VLC only because it has an EQ that I can actually get to work, but it does skip with a lot when running a bunch of stuff. Second would be Songbird.
