SCIM vs. Gcin vs. Fcitx for Chinese Pinyin Input?

    Hi all,

As anyone who use's SCIM's pinyin input (智能拼音) probably already knows, it isn't the smartest thing when it comes to inputing traditional characters. So recently I've started looking for an alternative. There are two main ones I've found that can handle traditional input: Fcitx and Gcin.

I've tried Fcitx in the past, and although I can't remember exactly how well It worked, I don't think it was much better than SCIM for pinyin input.

I have not tried Gcin yet, and was hoping to see if anyone else has. I know there is a script to convert SCIM and other input tables to Gcin's native format, so that it can be use SCIM's tables, but since the tables are the reason the input isn't too smart to begin with, I don't think that will help.

Has anyone found a better solution to this problem?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    That is perfectly possible.

Select 智能拼音 and then click three times on the zhong character. I don't know what the resulting selected character means but it allows you to use traditional characters when inputting text with SCIM.

    Actually this does not work.

I am using 智能拼音 with traditional selected but i still get simplified in the output

    this 为什么

    should be 為什麼

    I have tried everything.

Basically I have to type a letter using simplified then use Google translate to convert it to traditional. But this is slow. Or I can reboot into windows. Which is the fastest.

Please help - I musn't be alone in this.
