What is the proper way to fix this?
This only pertains to certain websites where the browser will immediately close/crash and have me staring at my desktop.
What do I need to do?

ive noticed this issue too,
an the fact that we cant enter
about:crashes
into the address bar to get a detailed report on why its happening since that feature isnt included in the the linux version of Firefox just makes this suck, that much more.
so the users of the "open source" version are left with nothing more than "guessing" what's causing the issue, but even if it is the beta flash plugin, theres no way for anyone to find out why, except the firefox devs...
I used to have this problem too. I fixed it by repeatedly removing and adding flash, over a variety of versions and some other open source flash reader (forgot the name). It crashed somewhat at random in all versions I tried for a while but eventually I ended up with Flash 9 enabled by itself and it has worked for a few months. It seems like a really weird glitch and I have no idea why it happened. So I suggest trying different versions, I don't know what is new about 10 but it sure isn't vital I guess because I'm doing just fine with 9. Good luck.
Firefox 3.0.1 crashes in Hardy for me when I try to play an episode from the Daily Show website. Browser just closes.

i need shockwave flash player for that and for the yahoo games.
I cant find the linux version out there on the web only the windows version. Plz post link here.
I'm having this problem as well at the moment. Strangely, the front page of the Daily Show's site will crash Firefox, but not the link mbobo provided, which I can watch fine.
Just installed Flash Player 10 RC and it appears to behave the same way as jkmuller, crashing on the main site and not on the full episode player.
youre probably having these issues because flash 10rc is only a release candidate. it may not be fully stable yet... and that coupled with firefox 3, well, youre bound to have some issues. i would suggest downgrading both of them.
So far, flash 10b was/is the best. 9 was terrible, 10b2 was worse than 9 and now 10rc has a lot of problems. I'm just glad I saved my original 10b and refused all upgrades.
Can you say regression?
