    [SOLVED] Videos not loading!

    When I double click on any video file it wont do anything it's set to use smaplyer as default but if i set vlc as default that wont load either only mplayer and ubuntu's default movie player will work if i set them to default if i want the video to play in smaplyer or vlc i have to drag&drop them onto the player!

    whats going on?

    you could always do what i do and use VLC's "quick open file" option. just an option to consider,

    It's got nothing to do with my hardware what it does is it just wont work if i click on the video file nothing will load but it will play fine if i open the file from smplayer or vlc

    Yeah, I definitely don't see anything wrong with your glxinfo, have you tried removing you drivers for your video card and reinstalling them.

    why would that help? i can play the video fine...it's just when i click on a video smplayer wont pop-up and play the video

    smplayer?

    I presume you have set this client by right-clicking a video file and going to properties -> open with.

    Have you tried to set vlc there using the command "vlc" instead of picking it out of you list?

    Should that not work, you could try this:

    If you haven't rebooted in awhile ( like since this started doing this ) then I would say it can't hurt to try. Sometimes on one of my boxes Smplayer stops outputting sound, I don't know why though as since a simple reboot fixes it and it does it rarely I don't even bother caring why. Just thought it may do something positive for you if this box has been up for a long time.

    If you really want to fix things this way (not needed!), it would be better just to restart the xserver (ctrl + alt + backspace).
