[SOLVED] Anyone with 8.04@hp530 having sound problem?

I upgraded to 8.04 few days ago . Everything was fine after the first restart after the upgrade, but now I am having problems with sound fidelity. The sound sound is too loud and harsh.

I posted a thread asking for help . Not many replies came . But a person said that the problem might be solved by manufacturer provided drivers. So, does anyone know where can the sound drivers be found for conexant high definition audio for ubuntu?

    Thanks in advance.

maybe this isnt what you want as you have already asked, but the harsh sound is probably called clipping where you are maxing out your sound card

turn down volumes, go into gnome-volume-control, enable all the tracks on all the devices, and turn down ALL the ones you dont use to mute (ie all but 2 probably)
and turn down the remaining 2 volumes too
