    Huawei E169G and Dlink DIR-451

I have been trying to get the Dlink DIR-451 and Huawei E169G working and it almost works, but not quite. It seems to get chat errors when establishing ppp.

I have spoken to Dlink support and they are very helpful. The current firmware for the DIR-451 is 1.02. Apparently E170G support will make it into the next firmware release which is 1.03, but the E169G will not be supported until 1.04 which may not be available until next year.

I borrowed and tested a Huawei E220 with the DIR-451 and it works well. So I am going to just go and buy one of those outright.

Just thought I would post this so that people would know the situation with the E169G, which if I had have known, I would not have bought.

Looking at this the other day for a Virgin Broadband Wireless Plan in Australia.

The Dovado UMR looks to support the Huawei E169 out of the box and the price inc postage is about the same as a buying Dlink DIR-451.

The youtube clip on the site shows how quick it is to get working.
