New Linux user - wifi woes

    Hi Folks,

I live in Herefordshire and am experimenting with Ubuntu....

I'm totally new to Linux and have managed to setup Ubuntu as a dual boot on my new Toshiba Equium A300D laptop.

Unfortunately, Ubuntu doesn't appear to have native support for my Realtek 8187B wi-fi device.

I've searched around on the net about how to get it to work, but frankly I don't understand the solutions what with being totally new to Linux.

Would some kind soul be able to guide me step-by-step noddy guide style to get my laptop running Ubuntu on wireless, please ?

I have installed Ubuntu as I want to learn how to use Linux, but I was hoping that when running it I'd be able to refer to T'internet for reference and support.

Any help would be greatl appreciated.

Here are some links to the WiFi sections of Help:

Also I found this useful when I started:

If you don't solve it here, you could post in the Absolute Beginners section, where more people will see your post.

    Good luck!
