    File overwrite/replace - how to display dates/times?

    Hi,

When I drag & drop updated files (from another directory) onto ones in my Home directory, the system warns me that the files already exist, but doesn't show me the actual date/time labels of the old and new files (as in WinXP).

Is there a way of getting the file manager in Ubuntu to indicate this info?

    Cheers,

    Mike.

Open up Nautilus (Ubuntu's file browser)

    Go to:
    Edit > Preferences
Depending on how you want to view this, click the "Display" tab, and in one of the fields select "Date Modified; also you could click the "List Columns" tab, and check the "Date Modified" check box.

And to display it in the list view you press Ctrl-2.

    Hi,

That's not quite what I meant...

When I drag and drop (or copy/pate, etc) to replace a file in my home directory with a newer version I get a requester that pops up saying:

"A file named "nnnnn" already exists. Do you want to replace it?"

... and the various options (cancel, replace, skip, etc.) are provided.

However, the requester doesn't show the created dates of the old and new files (as it does in XP).

I'd like to know if it's possible to do this in Nautilus, or if not, are there any other file managers that will do this?

    Cheers,

    Mike.
