    Re: [Beginner] Programming Challenge: 1

I just started learning scheme the day before this challenge was posted, so this is my first program in scheme.
    Code:
    (define beerstring
    	(lambda (b)
    		(cond ((= b 1) (display "1 bottle"))
    		((= b 0) (display "no more bottles"))
(else (display b) (display " bottles")))
    	(display " of beer")))

    (define beer
    	(lambda (b)
    		(cond ((> b 0)
(beerstring b) (display " on the wall, ") (beerstring b) (display ".") (newline)
(display "Take one down and pass it around, ")
(beerstring (- b 1)) (display " on the wall.") (newline)
    			(beer (- b 1))))))
    (beer 99)
(display "No more bottles of beer on the wall, no more bottles of beer.") (newline)
(display "Go to the store and buy some more, 99 bottles of beer on the wall.") (newline)
I know it's probably crude, but I think it's okay for less than a week with a completely new language.
P.S. I'm using mzscheme if that matters.

Grading here, so don't follow this until it is done! I am just keeping track of the ones I do and that work.

    Possibles:

    Sorry:

    Couldn't get it to work:

    Finished!

    Method of judging:

    • Find all entries of beginners that work (prints the song lyrics correctly)
    • Remove all with obvious problems, formatting, readability, and non standard code (warnings are not to be ignored!)
    • Separate all finalists into language. Anyone language with one representative is part of the poll. The large groups are reduced to the best of each (Python/C++ this time)
    • Alphabetise and make poll

You can all comment on code and give suggestions now. The "winner" will be whoever is the winner in the poll, which doesn't expire.

This thread will not expire either, but the poll options won't change.

I voted for Tim Sharitt,I have little experience with Scheme, and as said above he has been learning it for a day,so he is considerably a beginner in scheme no matter what background he has in programming, and the code was clean, easy to understand, all i have to say is well done

Mine worked when I tested it, but now from OS X gives an error about non ascii characters. Redoing all of the whitespace fixed that. Weird.
Posting code? Use the [code] or [php] tags.
I don't care, I'm still free. You can't take the sky from me.
