Screen Brigtness 15" rMBP mid 2012

    Hello Everyone,

    I have a 15" rMBP from mid 2012.

I have Ubuntu 13.04 installed with Nvidia's 310 propietary drivers.

Everything is fine except the screen resolution, which is fixed at 2880x1800 and can't be changed, and the brightness, which can't be changed either.

My main concern is the brightness, does anyone have a solution to this? The F1 and F2 keys don't seem to be doing anything.

    Thx.

Does pressing fn+f1 or f2 do anything?

    Hi Quackers,

Firstly, I just want to clarify I'm taking about the LED backlight brightness.

Fn+F1 or F2 do work performing their original functions (F2 will edit, etc).

When I press the brightness controls, a HUD bar appears on the top right indicating the level of brightness. The bar is displayed as maxed out and doesn't do much else - it doesn't move down as I press F1 to try decrease the brightness. Also, although the bar appears to be maxed out, the brightness of the display is actually very dim.

    Cheers,

I'm not in Ubuntu at the moment but there's a setting that adjusts the backlight in system settings but sadly I can't remember where exactly. It's a slider and it works on mine.
When I'm back in Ubuntu later on I'll have a mooch around if you haven't found it first. Afaik there is no keyboard action that works.

Ha! Believe it or not it's in "Brightness & Lock" in System Settings
