I would actually guess the opposite. It is not unloading, and you want it to for suspend (and reload after waking).

    Check /etc/default/acpi-support

    Re: ath9k

    Hi there!
Well I'm having a ruff time trying to get my wireless interface to work
I'm on Ubuntu Studio 8.04 64Bit on a Macbook Pro 17 2,1 and Everything seems to be working just fine, even 3D acceleration and so on.. but the wireless connection isn't working.
Has anyone tried to install the ath9k drivers on Ubuntu Studio???
    Any advices are very welcome!
    greetings
    Reld.

    Re: ath9k

I tried it both ways, blacklisting it and whitelisting it. Locked up all the same. It's the 21 kernel, everything is fine in v19. I would like to know if anyone else is having problems with the 21 kernel. Am I correct in thinking that the 21 kernel is the only one that can actually use wireless N?

I'm running v19 and my system keeps hanging when I try to reconnect after a suspend. This is what I'm seeing in the kern.log at the time:

Any idea what the error "Wireless Event too big" means?

    Re: ath9k

Well I'm also having a whale of a time trying to get my wireless interface to work
I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 64-Bit on a Macbook Pro 17 4,1 and Everything seems to be work except the wireless connection.
I have tried to install the ath9k drivers & followed several other threads without any luck.
I have not used Linux previously & am loosing faith while being totally confused and frustrated with getting what should be a basic function to work.
    Any help welcome!

You wouldn't want to loose faith! Keep that faith close by, and don't let it loose! (it's lose, by the way).

How have you been finding using 64-bit OS's on your macbook? Just as stable as 32-bit OS's?

Anyway, please don't lose faith - Linux can be good, once you get things set up properly. You might also try the ndiswrapper method, as I'm using, since I, too, cannot get ath9k to work.

    Appreciate the reply Tim

Faith seems to come & go
I have tried the ndiswrapper method also ending in confusion from the many different approaches & threads (gentoo, Fedora, Debian & ubuntu)
so if you succeed please inform me.

I have tried gentoo, Fedora, Debian & ubuntu 32-Bit. Ubuntu 64Bit has got me the farthest yet but wireless internet eludes me even here.
I have always followed the community flavors & open source creation of Linux, I have just never been in a situation where i have been able to learn while still being able to go back to a reality of work requirements in relation to systems swapping. Now I have a piece of hardware that is actually capable. I just want it to work. I Just noticed my cursor insertion point keeps dissapearing. I have one other problem & i guess this will come along eventually NO Scroll support for the mighty Mouse of MICE

    Re: ath9k

Your mouse problem should be an easy fix just google it. Did you try the script or the debs? I would try the script and then install wicd. It will replace network-manager, you only need to add /opt/wicd/tray.py to your startup session if you want the tray icon

can you give the output of 'ifconfig' and 'ndiswrapper -l' (that is a lowercase L)
