users and groups management

hi

im an ubuntu newbie but not linux, recently i want add a new user as an initial user with System -> Administration -> Users and Groups, however the Add User button is dim, i don´t know why, and before opened the Users and Groups, the machine doesn´t ask me the initial user´s password. But when i use adduser in command line i successfully to create a new user. My version is ubuntu 8.04 desktop.

Before i have changed the root password (stupid), i don´t know it is matter or not, any idea, thanks.

Just click the "unlock" button and you will be prompted for your password, and you're ready to go.
