    Okay got it!

run these two commands and you should be set (as long as running that command works, and it should!)

    sudo update-rc.d -f hotkey-setup remove

    sudo update-rc.d hotkey-setup start 99 6 5 4 3 2 1 .

(don't forget the period at the end!)
It worked for me after restarting...
    Hope it works for you!

    Well I try!
    Glad to hear it...
I found that after hours of searching. I had killed my keyboard, and all the keys were messing up. I got lucky and ran the right command, then worked from there.
I guess thats how all the cool stuff is found, by breaking it first

Also I haven't uninstalled the open source radeon driver. Doesn't seem to conflict fglrx. rotation with compiz works fine. May be I should try using git version. I have problems with compiz when I use graphics from remote servers.
    Thanks for the tip!
Yep. Those the commands I'm using.

Under 'radeon' everything seems to work fine, apart from the usual lack of 3D accelleration.

Under 'fglrx' without compiz, whenever my screen orientation is not 'normal', ie. after xrandr -o, my mouse cursor (not the position, but the actual pointer on screen) is not rotated. When I click, it's as though it's horribly uncalibrated. This happens with mice and the touchpad too, not just my tablet, so I'm presuming it's something to do with the display driver.

And Under 'fglrx' with compiz, I get the same problem, but additionally the screen completely stops refreshing, except for the mouse pointer, after a rotate.

These last two may be down to my xorg.conf file, which is rather minimal apart from the Wacom entries and 'fglrx' or 'radeon' as necessary. I'll look into the 3D drivers again at some point, though today I'll have a go with the screen media buttons.

    BaronVonJimmy,
I remember i had similar problem but not with the mice. I will have to check it after I uninstall readeon (soon).

The screen refresh problem was there but it was random. So I installed radeon along with fglrx. The problem seems solved. Though now I dont know which driver is actually working or if both are working.

You may want to try it!

    *EDIT*
I do have 3d working alond with xrandr.

I checked even without radeon. It works ok for me. There must be someway to debug your case (I am no expert!).

I am attaching my xorg.conf for you to compare to start with.

    *EDIT*

    My bad!

It does not work under compiz without radeon! I did not realize i was working with Metacity. The mice doesn't even respond for me!

If you still want to run fglrx and donot mind using metacity when you have your screen rotated the following will work

    xrandr -o left
    metacity --replace&
    xsetwacom set stylus ROTATE "CCW"
    xsetwacom set eraser ROTATE "CCW"
    xsetwacom set Touch ROTATE "CCW"

    xrandr -o normal
    compiz --replace&
    xsetwacom set stylus ROTATE "NONE"
    xsetwacom set eraser ROTATE "NONE"
    xsetwacom set Touch ROTATE "NONE"

This doesn't solve the real problem. but you can use the compositing when you are in normal mode and no compositing when rotated. I never found any use for compositing in the rotated mode.

Have you installed the git version, by the way?

Re: HOWTO: Install Hardy (8.04.1) on HP tx2500

    Hi everyone,

first of all I'm so happy to be freed from Vista that came preloaded with this machine, you couln'd imagine... So thank you all. But right now I'm having some problems with my tx2524ca... The laptop randomly and completely freezes ( can't hit ctrl-alt-backspace, ctrl-alt-delete and have to remove power). Sometimes the caps-lock key flash when it's frozen. I think I've tracen down the problem but I'm not sure. My wireless disconnect/reconnect several times before the crash so it may be related to some issues that were reported before. It's difficult to isolate the crash because it happens kind of rarely... Here is some maybe pertinent output that I could find :
    in my kernel log
    Code:
    Nov 6 17:07:48 larrylaptop-Intrepid kernel: [ 3556.247495] hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #0. Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj.

the second line is repeated a lot of times. My usb mouse was repeatedly flashing also. And in the syslog :

with a lot of things before that I won't put to expand uselessly. Hopefully it can be fixed and I will try to make work my touchscreen that for some reasons just don't work with all that have been said in this thread. I can put more detailed logs if you want. Maybe I sould fill a bug report but I would like to know the problem more before. Sorry for the big message,

    Laurent
