    Need help, would this hardware work?

    Folks,

    I want to build a box that can run Ubuntu.
    I am thinking of getting the hardware listed below. Would this work or is there anything I should be wary about/note.

    Motherboard
    Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5 LGA775 Intel X48 + ICH9R chipset motherboard.

    CPU
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 LGA775 2.83GHz 64 bit, 45nm, 1333MHz FSB, 12MB cache. Intel 64 technology, Intel advanced digital media boost, Intel advanced smart cachem Intel memory acccess.

    Two hard disk drives (want to use as RAID 1)
    300Gb Western Digital VelociRaptor 10,000 RPM SATA Hard Drive, 16mb cache.

    Case
    Lian Li PC-A05A Bare-metal Midi Tower Aluminium case, 2x 5.25, 4x 3.5, 2x 12cm fans, No PSU

    Memory, 8GB in total
    PC 6400 DDR2-800MHz CORSAIR TWIN2X 4096MB 240-PIN DDR2 XMS2-6400 RAM. Will get two sets. Each set has 2 x 2048MB w/black heatspreader for a total of 4096MB.

    Thanks but much of the hardware mentioned at that location is fairly old. I'd like to run newer hardware e.g. X48 and was hoping that some folks out there might already be doing that and was hoping to hear how/if things worked out okay.
