I'm looking for a good hi-resolution webcam to use with Skype

    Hello,

I'm looking for a good hi-resolution webcam (between 1.3 and 2.0 Megapixels) to use with Skype in Ubuntu.

Based on your experiences, what are your recommendations?
    Desktop : iMac 21.5" (2011) Core i5 Sandy Bridge - AMD Radeon HD 6750M - 8Gb RAM - OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion
    Laptop : EasyNote TS 44HR (2012) - Core i3 Sandy Bridge - Intel HD3000 - 4Gb RAM - elementary OS 0.2 + Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

AFAIK, the current Linux version of Skype can recieve hq video, but not send it, so getting s higher specced webcam may be a bit premature at this time

I'd recommend the Philips SPC 900NC. It has 1.3 Megapixels and it works pretty much instantly on any newer Linux distributions. I have no problem here whatsoever using it on my Ubuntu 7.10 system.

Besides, there was a similar thread a few months ago with other good suggestions ... Maybe you'd like to take a look:
