If someone asks you to sudo rm -rf anything, don't do it, and don't run any command with rm in it unless you know exactly what you're doing.things i have learnt changing from Xp pro to Ubuntu
is this a specific to foxconn issue or is it more related to the bios manufacturer(pheonix, ami...). If it is specific to the bios manufacturer it may very well affect other brands of motherboards as well. I have never had a foxconn board and dont plan on getting one so i dont know what they run for their bios. It would be good if we could check other boards with similar bioses for this issue.

Disgusting behavior on their part Oh well, I'll know to give their products a wide berth in the future.
It still could be an upstream problem though even with a modified bios. I dont have any recent boards with AMI so I cant check myself. Does anyone else want to give it a try?
EDIT: I just did some more research and it appears I had a misunderstanding about DSDT(DSDT is placed in the BIOS by the hardware manufacturer) and I now agree that the fault lies with foxconn.

I know someone at work who is going to want to see this.
Come tomorrow I am going to start harassing the phone operator at foxcomm until they explain themselves.
