Windows 7 + VMWare Player + TinyCore Linux

My opinion, and I'm guessing it's been said many times before, is this:
Sell PCs/Laptops pre installed with Ubuntu. Then everything really would "Just Work". The majority of people don't buy or upgrade an OS, they buy a new PC or Laptop. Yes the majority in this Forum do upgrade, but we aren't the majority as far as Computer users are concerned. So I don't think Ubuntu can become a "Mainstream OS" unless it targets the average user buying a new Machine. How many people, me included, do you think would be using Vista if it hadn't come pre installed on a new machine?
OK, that said, I have no idea how this would be achieved, Dell's effort, although perhaps commendable (and that seems up for debate), is hardly scratching the surface.
Just my thoughts.
Desktop: Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 Core 2 Duo 6300 1 GB Dual channel DDR 2 Nvidia 7300 GS
Laptop: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 2515 Intel T5450 Core 2 Duo 2 GB Dual Channel DDR2 Ram 160gb HDD (Vista/Linux Mint 5)
[Missing OMGPP]
the problem that dell only sells ubuntu online
we need places like office depot, best buy, etc to sell ubuntu as a choice even as a dual boot
and if game designers made linux versions and posted it on the game boxes

Refining Ubuntu : Fixing most bugs and making sure most computers/hardware is properly supported.
Advertise : Spread the word. Start with your friends and family.
Hack the Planet
Buisiness Standpoint
* Advertise
* Persuade more companies to dev. software for Ubuntu
The biggest point here is advertise. If you advertise it they will come. More people using ubuntu = more companies port/develop software for ubuntu = even more people using ubuntu.
Tech Standpoint
* Improve the sound system
Every time I installed Ubuntu I have had to alter the sound system. A couple scenarios I ran in to were that sound either did not work at all, had low volume, and no 2 applications at one time can use the device.
* Make Suspend/Hibernate "Just Work"
This has never (EVER) worked for me in Ubuntu and Linux in general. I don't know what the deal is here, but this bug has been reported since Ubuntu's first release!
* Get Rid of Add/Remove and Merge it with Synaptic
This one isn't really a big deal, but to me it's annoying. Instead of making the Add/Remove app, they should have taken Synaptic and make it a lot easier to use. It really isn't intuitive to have 2 completely different apps handle the same task. I recently installed kde4 using the kubuntu-desktop pakage (big mistake!). Synaptic should have some undo options, because after I decided I didn't like it, I spent the next 3 hours going through my install history and had to manually search for each pakage that I had just installed. Synaptic should atleast have the option to uninstall a list of pakages through the history menu.

Assuming that Linux wants to go mainstream ( and that's a big assumption because not everyone in Linux does), Linux needs to actively seek businesses to use their products. Windows stay in the top position, not because of home users, but because business uses it. Convert the businesses and home users will eventually convert.
Nearly every major corporations is locked into Windows and Office.
