    General quesiton regarding upgrading

    Hi.
I have a question regarding upgrading in general.
Does the upgrade process make the system slower?
I mean I'm currently using Gutsy 7.10 & I want to move to Hardy 8.4
Should I expect problems (some application aren't running after the upgrade, some of stale Ubuntu 7.10 aren't deleted, ...)?
Or a fresh installation is better (but it is so costly to me)?
    Thanks.

In general,NO.Maybe somebody have that kind of expirience, but you should be fine with Hardy.

I don´t know what do you mean by that.If you think of difference between upgrade with update manager and download iso I don´t think it will be much difference. If you don´t have separate home partition and you thin you will lose youir files with fresh install you are right. But you can make separate home partition an d after that make fresh install.Other option is to download alternate CD and do upgrade with it.If something goes wrong you have CD for fresh install and you have separate home.
