Using my existing Windows partition in VirtualBox

I have a 500GB SATA HDD, partitioned thus:

40GB NTFS - Windows XP Home
    3GB SWAP - Linux Swap
    ~425GB EXT3 - Ubuntu 8.04

Can I open up virtualbox in Ubuntu and load Windows from that 40GB partition instead of a .vdi virtual disk? If so, how would I do so?

    Thanks!

Wow that looks like a lot of work! And a lot of hassle!

Yes, it is not an easy thing to do. Never done it myself, but I keep the link in case I need to do it sometime (or the occational question about how to do it here on the forums...).
