When laptop is opened after closed, the screen remains black

Well like the title says, when I close the laptop and then reopen it I can't get the screen to come back up. It remains black. I tried many different power management options to no avail. Here is my laptop model # and graphics chipset.

Laptop model: HP dv6436nr
Graphics Chipset: NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150

Do you have all of these "junk" features turned off in the BIOS ?

Well, I don't know what you mean by 'Junk' features, but I haven't touched anything in the BIOS. So no, I suppose. If I had to guess I think this might be related to some nVidia drivers I have. Does that help with what I should be doing to correct this problem?

I call these "junk" because they are USUALLY just another something to mess your computer up.

Go into the BIOS and look for parameters related to power management of particularily video functions and make sure they are all set correctly.

And to me correctly, usually means disabled.

Still causing me problems however when the laptop is placed into standby mode without closing the lid I've found it can come back up.

Just to let you know you're not the only one with this problem: It's in other threads here, and my own Dell C640 running Ubuntu 8.04 always does it so, like you, I don't shut lid any more but I'm still hoping someone will come up with a neater solution......
