Re: program to help me configure mouse buttons?
I can tell users how to rearrange there mouse button mappings if the changes are perminent or how to make them so someone else will have to tell you.
first find out what mouse you have so in a terminal $ xinput list
here is my output
Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Macintosh mouse button emulation id=10 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Microsoft Microsoft® 2.4GHz Transceiver V2.0 id=8 [slave pointer (2)]
so the Microsoft is the one i am looking for (had to cut and paste damn trade mark) yours will be different unless you have the same or similar mouse
next $ xev
this will tell you your mouse button number click each button and write down the number
ButtonRelease event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x3a00001,
root 0x1a6, subw 0x3a00002, time 9122614, (28,35), root: (699,86),
state 0×110,button 1, same_screen
thank you Messsana
then $ xinput get-button-map " your mouse here"
my output 1 2 3 4 5 8 9 6 7 10 11 12 13
you notice i already switched buttons 6 7 8 9 to 8 9 6 7
then $ xinput set-button-map "your mouse here" 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
stop after the buttons you wish to change
DO NOT LEAVE OUT SPACES! or have fun with your messed up mouse
that's it
now if i could only add new buttons i want to have a copy paste functioning and i have unassigned buttons
