    Red face Screen Rotation stocked!!!!

    Hello,
I got my new 24inch widescreen HP monitor with pivot function. Therefore I tried to rotate the display with the gnome-display-properties. I turned the display upsidedown and now the cursor is really upside down but all the windows and menubars aren't available.
In the xorg.conf file is under screen and monitor section just written: "Configured Monitor" or "Configured Screen". Where can I change (rotate) the display back?? Restart don't work. The command xrandr always get me "can't open display". Please help!!

Oh sorry I forgot to mention that I use Ubuntu 8.04 with xorg 7.3. The Login screen is still normal (not upsidedown) but as soon as I putted username and password the screen becomes upside down. Mouse is there but nothing else. Where are the information stored to turn the screen

Thanks to all for an answer, if questions pease ask,
