Looking for a small budget computer (mac mini size if possible)

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a very tiny computer to run Ubuntu on.

I already have a 24" monitor 1920x1200, a usb wireless keyboard and mouse. I want basically something similar to the Mac Mini, but much less expensive. I don't think I want to buy a dell because they come preloaded with Windwows.

So basically I'm looking for a budget computer that can handle that resolution, probably with 1 gb ram and a core 2 duo (or Athlon?), and a small hard drive (maybe 80 gb). Oh, and it would need to have 802.11g/b too.

Any suggestions?

HP makes a slimline desktop model which is not as small as a macmini but it might work for you, or you could consider building your own using one of many types of small form factor motherboards.

AOpen Minipc is very nice, looks like it should be very linux friendly as well.

Well it even comes with a distro of Linux here. But you can change it to Ubuntu easy enough. It's call the MyMiniPC.

It's about the form factor of a Mac Mini, but it's not a Mac. HOWEVER the issue is it's still around $499 for the unit. It's got some decent specs.

Otherwise I can recommend the Zonbu, as someone above suggested.

It's only $299, it comes with a Distro of Linux, and it has meh stats. However it's similar to the Asus Eee PC in the fact it does not have a Hard Drive. To install Ubuntu, or any other OS on it would require changing the SDHC card, which is where the OS is located. It's more of a project.
